Bulawayo is in Zimbabwe. It is the second-largest city in the country, after the capital Harare, and until recently was Zimbabwe's industrial capital. It is a relaxed, elegant city with tree-lined boulevards and an air of shabby gentility. However, it's worth a day or two -- you can find good shopping and a worthwhile movie theater -- if passing through. It means to slaughter. This is the place where Mzilikazi had his first capital and used to slaughter his enemies.
The city's outdoor swimming pool is like something out of a 1920s movie, with its ranks of brightly painted changing booths. Lie on the grass and watch the cranes roost in the towering trees of the neighbouring botanic gardens.
Without a doubt, it must once have been a fascinating and glorious city. Never the less, Zimbabwe's second largest city is worth a stopover to catch the nightly train to Vic Falls. Don't expect much accomodation here and don't rely on your guidebook; even if printed yesterday, it may well be out of date already. Don't trust the porter who tells you that you can stow your stuff for free in the luggage room. You are unlikely to be reunited with your bags until you fork over a nice tip. read more on bulawayo visitor information
The name on my ticket does not exactly match my passport. What should I do ?
Most airlines require that the first name and surname on your ticket match the first name and surname on your passport. Please remember that it is not possible to include spaces or punctuation marks in names on tickets, so do not worry if these do not show on the ticket. If there is a spelling error...
